It looks like UNLV is going to be on its fourth head coach since January. Fox News West Texas is reporting that Beard has accepted the opening at Texas Tech which became available after Tubby Smith took the job at Memphis. The two met in Las Vegas this evening to discuss the opening.
Details of the contract were not disclosed in this report but it does mention that Texas Tech might have a tough time matching the five-year, $5.7 million contract that UNLV and Beard agreed upon.
Smith was making $1.8 million per year as the Red Raiders head coach and had he stayed and not left for Memphis that number would increase to the $2 million per year range.
