Boise State is dropping one program within the school in hopes that the Broncos will have enough funds to replace with another varsity sport.
The wrestling program -- which competed in the Pac-12 — is being dropped from Boise State for the possibility that the Broncos will establish a varsity baseball program.
"This was not an easy decision, but one that needed to be made as we consider the long-term vision for Bronco athletics," director of athletics Curt Apsey said in a released statement. "We will continue to honor the scholarships we provide our student-athletes, and will do all we can to help those who want to continue their collegiate wrestling careers elsewhere.
