With the 71st pick in the 2016 NFL draft, the New York Giants selected Boise State Broncos safety Darian Thompson. Thompson was rated as the 42nd best player overall and the third rated safety, per Mocking The Draft rankings.
The Giants are getting a playmaker in Thompson who has very instinctive abilities to get to the ball and cause a disruption with the receiver. He also can help in the running game when needed making him a defensive back who can stay on the field in nearly any down-and-distance situation.
