Many thought that after Mckenzie Milton decided to commit to UCF that Kalakaua Timoteo would commit elsewhere too. However, soon after Milton made his announcement, Timoteo reaffirmed his commitment to the University of Hawaii. He was finally able to send his full commitment in on National Signing Day.
The Mililani High School product received first-team all state honors from the Honolulu Star-Advertiser and KHON2's Cover2. He also garnered recognition from ScoringLive and American Family Insurance making their all-Hawaii Football Division I team and all-Hawaii team respectively.
Throughout the recruiting process he was largely considered a three-star recruit by 247Sports, Rivals and Scout.
