All Square in Opening CPL Game.

History was made this afternoon, as 17,611 watched the first-ever Canadian Premier League game at Tim Horton’s Field, Hamilton.

The game was a lively affair, and the sizeable crowd didn’t have to wait long for the new league’s first goal. It came from Ryan Telfer, on-loan to York9 from Toronto FC. The striker latched onto a defence-splitting ball from captain Manny Aparicio in the 3rd minute to slot past Henry in the Forge goal.

“No better feeling,” was how Ryan Telfer summed up his experience in scoring the new league’s first-ever goal.
