The Canadiens announced that defenceman Zach Redmond broke his foot during practice, and will require six weeks to recover.

Redmond, 28, was signed as a free agent by the Canadiens this summer, and has yet to play a regular season game for the team.
The Traverse City native impressed during training camp, and earned a spot on the Canadiens by outplaying fellow blueliner Mark Barberio.
Barberio, who was the last cut on defence, is the obvious choice to receive a call up in light of Redmond’s injury.
