What can Otto Leskinen bring to the Montreal Canadiens?

It’s that time of year where NHL teams sign players from overseas and the Montreal Canadiens took their turn on Tuesday. For the third offseason in a row, the team has chosen to bring in a defenceman adding 22-year-old Otto Leskinen to a two-year max entry-level contract.

This is exciting considering Leskinen is young and shoots left, an area on the NHL roster that needs more depth, however, expectations need to be tempered a little bit. Two years ago it was Jakub Jerabek who started the season with the Laval Rocket and was called up before his European Assignment Clause that would make him eligible to return to Europe kicked in.
