The twisted irony behind this latest set of news with Jeff Petry is interesting. The Montreal Canadiens and the Carolina Hurricanes have been connected since the Habs made the first offer sheet attempt in years on Sebastian Aho. The attempt didn’t work as the Hurricanes came back to match the signed offer sheet keeping the star centre in Carolina.
It moved over to the Jake Gardiner sweepstakes, which both teams were in on with the Canes winning that one. However, you can argue the Habs dodged a bullet there.
Now it seems like the two teams may come together for a trade.
