NHL Trade Deadline: Who the Maple Leafs And Canadiens May Want To Hold On To

By Michael Augello, Featurd

The NHL Trade Deadline is less than a month away and clubs bound for the playoffs are looking to improve their chances of Stanley Cup glory by adding the right piece to their club’s roster prior to February 25th without significantly impacting their club’s future.

Coming out of the All-Star break, the Toronto Maple Leafs were the first to make a big move, obtaining Stanley Cup winning defenseman Jake Muzzin from the Los Angeles Kings for a 2019 first-round pick and prospects Carl Grundstrom and Sean Durzi. In the deal, GM Kyle Dubas avoided giving up young NHL wingers Kasperi Kapanen and Andreas Johnsson and at the same time established the market rate for what other teams might have to give up to address their areas of need.
