As the All-Star break approaches, NHL clubs will also be getting a brief reprieve from their grueling schedule with a five-day bye week, giving players some extra rest before the stretch run and team managers to start exploring their options before the February 24 trade deadline. The odds of big hockey trades going down over the next few weeks are low. Rentals like Chris Kreider, Tyler Toffoli, and Jean-Gabriel Pageau could be key additions to contenders willing to pay a steep price, but players with term left on their deals are also attracting a lot of attention.
