Montreal Canadiens trade Hayden Hawkey to the Edmonton Oilers for a 2019 fifth-round pick

After the dust had settled from the second day of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, the Montreal Canadiens made their second deal of the day with the Edmonton Oilers, this time shipping out NCAA goaltending prospect Hayden Hawkey in return for a 2019 fifth-round pick.

Originally drafted by the Canadiens in 2014 in the sixth round , 177th overall, Hawkey has just completed his junior year for the Providence Friars. With a total record of 48-24-8 in three seasons for Providence, Hawkey was a more-than-capable goaltender in the pipeline for Montreal.
