The Montreal Canadiens hosted the Columbus Blue Jackets last night in a rematch of two teams that battled until the end of last season to get the final playoff spot. The Blue Jackets would win that right, and a big reason why was a big win over the Canadiens late in the season.
The Blue Jackets don’t appear to be staining in the way of anyone’s playoff hopes this year. Heading into last night’s contest, Columbus was carrying a 6-8-3 which didn’t have them in the basement of the Eastern Conference standings, but it was pretty close.
The game started quietly for both teams, but by the end of the first period, the Blue Jackets would lead 1-0 on Eric Robinson’s first career NHL goal.
