Montreal Canadiens: Significance behind Max Domi’s number choice

After the initial surprise of the Max Domi trade that saw Alex Galchenyuk go to the Arizona Coyotoes, the next mystery was what number he would wear. Domi wore 16 dating back to his days in junior with the London Knights, but that wouldn’t work with the Montreal Canadiens. The team retired 16 in 1975 paying homage to both Henri Richard and Elmer Lach, so something else needed to be considered.

Fans learned of Domi’s new number through the team’s NHL site. When he was added to the roster list, the number 13 was in his column.
