Montreal Canadiens place Xavier Ouellet on waivers

The Montreal Canadiens have placed Xavier Ouellet on waivers today. The defender has played 19 games this season the the Canadiens and has three assists.

Ouellet played his first game with the team on Opening Night against Toronto, but as the Canadiens have gotten healthy on the blue line with the return of David Schlemko and then Shea Weber, Ouellet has been pushed down the lineup. Ouellet has not played since November 21, when the Canadiens lost 5-2 to the New Jersey Devils.

This signals that Noah Juulsen is likely close to a return, maybe as soon as Sunday in Chicago against the Blackhawks.
