It’s a bittersweet reaction to the news on Nicolas Deslauriers. The 27-year-old was in the Montreal Canadiens lineup for last night’s preseason-opening game against the New Jersey Devils and chose to answer Brandon Baddock’s challenge to fight.
Deslauriers walked away as the winner of the tussle but took a few hits along the way. One of them staggered him a little bit and eventually ended up taking him out of the game completely.
Claude Julien revealed at the post-game scrum that he was transported to the hospital for a medical examination and that for the time being, it was being dubbed an upper-body injury.
