The Montreal Canadiens will be without depth defenseman Zach Redmond for the foreseeable future. The right-shot defenseman is going to miss the next six weeks with a broken bone in his foot.
Redmond was signed by the Canadiens to a two-year contract in July. He earns a cap hit of $612,500 each season. Redmond played the past two seasons with the Colorado Avalanche, scoring six points in 37 games last season.
Since turning pro four seasons ago, Redmond has proven to be a great American Hockey League player, but has not been able to make it as a full-time National Hockey league defender.
