Mike Hoffman signs a three-year contract with the Montreal Canadiens

The Montreal Canadiens made their first big addition to the offence in free agency with the signing of winger Mike Hoffman to a three-year deal, worth $4.5 million a season.

Hoffman will immediately improve a lacking Montreal power play, and add some more scoring depth to the forward group as whole. Last year in 52 games with the St. Louis Blues, Hoffman tallied 17 goals and 19 assists, with seven power-play goals as well.

He was rumored to be in Montreal’s crosshairs last off-season before he opted to join the Blues, so Marc Bergevin ended up with his man in the end, while also getting to sign Tyler Toffoli a year ago to fill a similar role.
