Liveblog: Canadiens at New Jersey

The Canadiens play their first game of the Trump Era in a state not unfamiliar to the U.S. president-elect.

In 1984 and ’85, Donald Trump was the owner of the New Jersey Generals, a United States Football League franchise.

The USFL lasted three seasons, and the Generals’ owner went on to other divertissements.

The New Jersey Devils have lasted longer.

The former Kansas City Scouts/Colorado Rockies landed in New Jersey in 1982. They’ve been there ever since, winning three Stanley Cups (on the back of Martin Brodeur) and moving to the Prudential Center in Newark in 2007.
