Give Peace on Ice a Chance

I was sent the photos below of John and Yoko and a Habs sweater back in 2013, from what I assumed was during the couple’s seven-day Bed-In for Peace in Montreal in 1969.

I hadn’t seen these pictures before and I was blown away. But it turned out I was wrong about the Bed-In part. You’ll see why further on down.

It looks like John is holding a sweater bearing number 5. Bernie Geoffrion wore number five from 1951 to ’64, and in 1968 Gilles Tremblay owned the number for two years, retiring after the ’69 season.
