Colours fit for a King

The local BCHL junior team here in Powell River, the Kings, are in the playoffs, they’ve just finished off the Nanaimo Clippers, and now prepare to dust off the Victoria Grizzlies in the next round.

I was at game six when they did in the Clippers after coming from behind twice to finally win it 6-4, and can some of these kids fly. It’s like having a bunch of teenage Paul Byrons out there. And the 900 or so Kings fans and maybe 100 Clippers fans made for quality playoff atmosphere.

The Kings began in 1988, about eight years before I moved here permanently, and during that first decade they were called the Paper Kings (because of the local paper mill).
