One thing is for sure, the Canadiens are taking depth seriously this off-season. They already added Al Montoya to a crowded crease and have now signed depth defenceman Zach Redmond to a two year contract. Redmond will earn just $1.225 million with a $0.6125 ca hit.
Redmond was a 7th round pick of the old Atlanta Thrashers in 2008. He’s a right handed depth defender who has seen action in 4 NHL seasons with Winnipeg and Colorado.
Adding a player like Redmond seemed obvious from the Canadiens perspective. After all, the team used 15 defencemen last season as the blueline suffered injury after injury.
