Stipe set a modern-day UFC record with 361 strikes landed, breaking Chael Sonnen’s mark by 41 strikes in his first tango with then-middleweight champion Anderson Silva at UFC 117. Hunt posted the above pic following the mauling and it certainly looks like he blocked 361 strikes with his face.
Hunt entered the cage as the UFC’s fifth ranked heavyweight, but owns a mundane 5-5 (1 Draw) record. The rapidly aging 41-year-old has just one win in his last five outings – September’s walk-off KO over Roy Nelson.
So why is Hunt revered as though he’s destined for UFC Hall of Fame induction?
