Gunnar Nelson will square off against Thiago Alves in a welterweight tilt at UFC Copenhagen on Sept. 28.
Promotion officials announced the bout on Wednesday. The card takes place at Royal Arena and marks the UFC’s inaugural visit to Denmark. Nelson vs. Alves is the first matchup announced for UFC Copenhagen, which is expected to air on ESPN+.
Nelson last appeared at UFC London on March 16, when he suffered a split-decision setback to Leon Edwards. The 30-year-old Iceland native is 8-4 over the course of his promotional tenure and 17-4 as a professional overall.
