If you know Rousimar Palhares, then you probably know the story by now.
Two years ago "Toquinho" put Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight Mike Pierce in a viciously tight heel hook for a submission victory, but failed to let go when Pierce tapped, even with referee Keith Peterson trying to pull him off.
That stunt earned Palhares his dismissal from the ZUFFA-owned fight promotion and the right to ply his trade anywhere else, assuming promoters were willing to take a risk on Palhares, who had already been fined and suspended for his submission shenanigans before.
