As it turned out, Gable Steveson didn’t even need to complete the takedown — but it did make for a pleasing visual.
The former five-time NCAA All-American wrestler improved to 2-0 in his burgeoning MMA career, as he dispatched Kevin Hein via knockout in 24 seconds in the Anthony Pettis FC 21 main event at Isleta Resort and Casino in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on Sunday night.
Steveson rocked his opponent with an overhand left just as he was changing levels for a takedown, and Hein had already stiffened from the blow by the time he landed on the canvas.
