On Wednesday down in Townsville, Australia, a limited capacity crowd of about 16,000 fans at the Queensland Country Bank Stadium witnessed young junior middleweight Tim Tszyu (16-0, 12 KOs) take apart former welterweight champion Jeff Horn (20-3-1, 13 KOs) over eight mostly one-sided rounds. Yes, Tim Tszyu is the 25-year-old son of legendary former junior welterweight champion Kostya Tszyu. You feel old yet?
Tszyu scored two knockdowns of Horn, who’s best known for his controversial win over Manny Pacquiao back in 2017. Horn’s roughhouse tactics were easily nullified by Tim’s superior boxing skill and sharp punches. At the end of round eight, with Horn thoroughly beaten up and with little chance of victory, Horn’s trainers made the decision to throw in the towel.
