Valentina Shevchenko said she got a bout agreement from the UFC for a fight with Julianna Peña last week and signed it. The bout would have been for UFC 205 on Nov. 12 in New York.
A few days later, though, Shevchenko said she learned the fight wasn't going to happen. Peña was apparently not interested.
"I agreed," Shevchenko told MMA Fighting. "I signed my part. But then we got information that Julianna Pena is trying to escape. She doesn't want to fight me."
Shevchenko (13-2) said the UFC also offered her a main event spot against Peña at UFC Fight Night 96 in Portland, which is scheduled for Saturday.
