Tatsuro Taira was set to make his UFC debut on April 30. He had made weight for his flyweight contest as had his opponent Carlos Candelario, but the UFC scratched the fight the morning of the event when Candelario fell ill. The bout will now take place on the UFC Vegas 54 prelims.
Taira joins the UFC on the strength of a 10-0 record. Eight of those fights — three knockouts and five submissions — have ended via stoppage. The 22-year-old won the Shooto flyweight title in July 2021 with a first-round submission win over Ryuya Fukuda.
