UFC welterweight doesn’t fail a drug test, USADA suspends him anyway

Now that’s a fine how-do-you-do.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight George Sullivan joins the not-so-illustrious list of mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters suspended in 2016 by United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).

Which may come as a surprise, considering he never failed a drug test.

But Sullivan (17-5, 1 NC) disclosed a prohibited substance he was taking — by way of mislabeled product — and was immediately removed from his UFC on FOX 20 fight last July, pending investigation by USADA.

The result was a one-year suspension, as per the official website:

“Although no prohibited substances were specifically listed on the Supplement Facts label, the manufacturer claimed on the product website that each bottle of the product contains an extremely high concentration of IGF-1.
