The UFC middleweight title picture is muddled. Current champion Israel Adesanya seems to be in line to face light heavyweight titleholder Jan Blachowicz in early 2021. That leaves fighters like Jack Hermansson and Marvin Vettori, who meet in the main event of Saturday’s UFC Vegas 16 fight card, to jockey for position in the rankings while Adesanya looks to become a two-division UFC champion.
Hermansson was close to a title shot in 2019. He was on a four fight winning streak and was coming off a five-round decision win over Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza when he was matched up against Jared Cannonier in September 2019.
