As he enters his 40s, Roy Nelson’s legendary chin remains as granite-like as ever. He demonstrated as much in his Saturday night UFC on FOX 24 matchup with Alexander Volkov, as Nelson took everything the former Bellator heavyweight champ could throw at him and stayed standing.
Unfortunately, though, age seems to be catching up to Nelson in every other aspect of his game. Nelson slowed after a strong first round, which enabled Volkov to take 30-27, across-the-board scores in a unanimous decision in Kansas City.
Nelson took control of the opening round from the outset, landing uppercuts, scoring a takedown, and working Volkov over in the top position.
