In case it wasn’t clear before, it is now: Sage Northcutt is meant to fight at lighweight.
“Super” Sage return to action Saturday night after an 11-month layoff and looked impressive in his return to 155 pounds. A poised Northcutt had little trouble against Michel Quniones in scoring a unanimous decision at UFC Norfolk. The judges’ scores were 30-27 across the board.
With the win, Northcutt (9-2) is now 4-0 in the UFC when competing at lightweight and 0-2 at welterweight.
Northcutt, who has been training with Team Alpha Male and was cornered for the fight by UFC Hall of Famer Urijah Faber, wasted little energy in the opening round, as he was efficient with his strikes against an opponent who seemed wary to engage.
