UFC light heavyweight Azamat Murzakanov accepts two-year USADA suspension

Undefeated light heavyweight prospect Azamat Murzakanov has accepted a two-year suspension from USADA for a 2017 violation of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy.

Murzakanov tested positive for boldenone metabolites (5β-androst-1-en-17β-ol-3-one and androsta-1,4-diene-6β-ol-3,17-dione), banned substances which are classified as anabolic agents, in an out-of-competition urine sample administered on Sept. 2, 2017.

As a result of the failed test, Murzakanov has been given a two-year sanction retroactive to the date of his out-of-competition screening, meaning he will be cleared to compete on Sept. 2, 2019.

According to a statement issued by USADA, “The delay in resolving Murzakanov’s case was due to requests for additional time by Murzakanov to investigate the source of his positive test.
