Sunday’s Fight Night 74 will mark only the second time the Octagon has traveled to Canada this year under what seems to still be the looming shadow Georges St-Pierre left behind. With growing numbers of young and talented prospects, world-class MMA gyms, and a great fight culture, the recent fall-off of Canadian-hosted UFC events is rather puzzling.
Especially when taking into account attendance numbers. Canadian fight fans tend to show up on fight night in numbers that average above 10,000 and if one of their own, like St-Pierre, is headlining, that number doubles.
