Jon Jones may have very well caught a break when Daniel Cormier went down with an injury three weeks prior to their scheduled rematch at UFC 197.
The former Light Heavyweight kingpin was evidently rusty last night (April 24, 2016) following a year-long layoff, and had "Bones" been facing off against Cormier instead of Ovince St. Preux, he may very well have lost.
Still, Jones was able to accrue the unanimous decision victory in what was a much needed tune-up fight.
The win earned Jones the interim Light Heavyweight Championship, but the belt he desires rests in the Cormier household, and he is ready to take back what he never lost inside the Octagon.
