It wasn't only UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier's first title defense, it was perhaps his most memorable fight to date. Many were even calling Cormier's triumphant victory over Alexander Gustafsson a Fight of the Year candidate.
Cormier (17-1) was able to withstand all that Swedish challenger Gustafsson (16-4) threw at him at UFC 192 on Saturday night in Houston, and he prevailed on the scorecards. The judges gave "D.C" a split decision victory, 47-48, 48-47, 49-46. The fight was a back-and-forth war in which each man had their moments in the clinch, and at range.
