UFC interim heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum (pictured) says nobody believes he can beat heavyweight champ Cain Velasquez Saturday at UFC 188. That holds true with the Gambling Gods, as well.
The powers that be have pegged Velasquez, despite his 20-month-long hiatus due to injury, an overwhelming 5.5-1 odds-on favorite to unify the 265-pound crown.
Werdum, meanwhile checks in as nearly a 4-1 longshot.
Let’s not forget, this isn’t uncharted territory for Werdum. He pulled off arguably the biggest upset in MMA history when he submitted Fedor Emelianenko five years ago. Emelianenko was a 6-1 favorite in that 2010 fight, but started as high as a 10-1 favorite.
