Sunday's UFC main event between Stephen Thompson and Jake Ellenberger at The Ultimate Fighter 21 finale in Las Vegas was meant as a measuring stick for both welterweights in their respective careers. Thompson entered the night having never been in a UFC main event, while Ellenberger was still ranked in the top 10, but only barely at #9.
Ellenberger started strongly by knocking Thompson down with a hard right hand. "Wonderboy" returned to his feet and tied up "The Juggernaut" immediately after tasting his power. Ellenberger and Thompson exchanged strikes before Ellenberger went for a trip takedown and found himself instantly reversed.
