Conor McGregor’s star never shined brighter.
The Irishman cemented himself as a truly historic figure and became the first competitor in Ultimate Fighting Championship history to hold titles in two weight classes simultaneously when he dismissed Eddie Alvarez with second-round punches to capture the lightweight crown in their UFC 205 main event on Nov. 12, 2016 at Madison Square Garden in New York. Already in possession of the featherweight championship, McGregor slammed the door on the Philadelphia native 3:04 into Round 2.
Alvarez elected to stand with the SBG Ireland linchpin and soon regretted his decision.
