Tony Ferguson says he was offered big fight last week: ‘Guess who?’

Streaking lightweight contender Tony Ferguson has been cleared to fight in the UFC but the former interim champion won’t reveal who his next opponent is.

Posting on Twitter late Tuesday night, ‘El Cucuy’ teased fans that he was offered a big fight prior to UFC 236, asking his followers to guess who it was.

“I Was Offered A Fight Last Week Before #UFC236. Guess Who? That Means I Don’t Need Additional Clearance. Bring It On - Champ Shit Only,” Ferguson tweeted yesterday.

It’s expected that reigning UFC lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov will defend his title against newly-crowned interim titleholder Dustin Poirier, so perhaps ‘El Cucuy’ is hinting at a fight against Conor McGregor, who is currently rumored to be in negotiations with UFC president Dana White.
