Thiago Santos suffered thigh injury during UFC Fight Night 95 loss to Eric Spicely

The Brazilian MMA Athletic Commission (CABMMA) only issued Thiago Santos a 14-day medical suspension after Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 95 in Brasilia, but it will take longer for the middleweight fighter to return to training.

Santos’ coach at TFT, Otavio Duarte told MMA Fighting on Wednesday that "Marreta" suffered a thigh injury during the bout after escaping from a submission attempt from Eric Spicely early in the fight. Santos went on despite the muscle injury, but ended up tapping to a rear-naked choke moments after.

Santos returned to Brazil on Sunday morning, and detailed exams showed he suffered a muscle strain.
