Stephen Fulton’s bid to become a three-division world champion hit a major snag at Friday’s weigh-in in San Antonio. The former unified 122-pound champion came in two pounds over the 130-pound limit. Rendering him ineligible to win the WBC super featherweight title in Saturday night’s showdown with defending champion O’Shaquie Foster.
The bout will still move forward at the Frost Bank Center, but only Foster can retain or lose the title. If Foster is defeated, the WBC belt will become vacant, adding a dramatic wrinkle to an already high-stakes matchup.
