Sabrina de Sousa could not have envisioned where combat sports would take her.

“My first martial art was capoeira. I was around 7 years old,” she told Sherdog.com. “From there, I joined an academy that had a variety of martial arts, like traditional jiu-jitsu, no-gi and muay thai. I signed up for jiu-jitsu classes with the gi. I truly enjoyed it. Soon after, I added muay thai. Then I became an MMA practitioner by doing a bit of everything. Early on, I didn’t have any friends or family who suggested I become a fighter. I did it on my own, and I got to like it very much.
