Russian boxing champion sentenced for assaulting military aircraft engineer

A Rostov court sentenced regional boxing champion Daniil Gritsay to six years for attacking Igor Nesmelov, a military aircraft engineer from Moscow.

The attack took place on June 19, 2018, near the Dom Turista hotel in the Rostov region of Russia. According to reports, the boxer and his friend were drunk and rowdy underneath the hotel. The engineer, who was in Rostov on a business trip, allegedly put his head out the window and commented on the disorderly behaviour. As a result, Gritsay and his friend stormed the hotel lobby. When the engineer came down to help put an end to the drunken behaviour, he was assaulted by the boxer.
