Rory MacDonald Says Bellator Contract Has Expired, Still Believes Lima Trilogy ‘Very Likely’

Rory MacDonald thought he might have enough to retain his welterweight title in the Bellator 232 headliner on Saturday night in Uncasville, Conn.

However, he also acknowledged that he could have put together a more decisive overall performance to win more rounds on the judges’ scorecards. Ultimately, it was Douglas Lima who emerged with a relatively clear-cut unanimous decision triumph with scorecards of 50-45, 50-45 and 49-46 to capture the welterweight grand prix crown, championship belt and $1 million payout.

“I had good moments. It was close every, single round,” MacDonald told media following the event.
