Rory MacDonald is not willing to follow Georges St-Pierre’s methods of moving up in weight.

When two-division UFC champion Georges St-Pierre decided to move up to middleweight to face Michael Bisping at UFC 217, it came with some repercussions. One of them is a sudden case of ulcerative colitis, which forced him to drop the 185-pound title.

According to renowned jiu-jitsu mentor John Danaher, the ailment may have been caused by St-Pierre’s need to “eat so much more” just to keep the weight on and stay close to 200 pounds in preparation for his fight against Bisping. It is an approach that St-Pierre’s teammate Rory MacDonald is not willing to take, as he himself moves up to middleweight to fight Bellator champion Gegard Mousasi late this month.
