Report: Gina Carano getting Emmy push from Disney, despite public firing

Lucasfilm, which is owned by Disney, sensationally canned MMA pioneer Gina Carano from the popular Star Wars TV series The Mandalorian in February. The reason given for her very public firing was her social media posts, which Lusasfilm described as “abhorrent and unacceptable.”

During the COVID-19 pandemic Carano’s social media presence grew increasingly controversial, with the fighter turned actor advocating against the use of masks and vaccines to stop the spread of the deadly coronavirus. Additionally, Carano used her social media to promote QAnon-related conspiracy theories.

The last straw for Disney appeared to be a post in which Carano compared being criticized for her opinions in modern day America to the Nazi’s genocide of Jewish people during the Second World War.
