Ray Borg issues statement following UFC release: ‘This is not a goodbye’

Ray Borg’s run with the UFC is done for now and he admits that the last few years have been a tumultuous time for him both personally and professionally.

News of the former flyweight contender’s release broke last week shortly after Borg withdrew from a bantamweight bout against Nate Maness at UFC Vegas 5. It was the second time in two months that Borg, 27, had stepped away from a scheduled bout. At UFC Vegas 2 in June, Borg withdrew from a fight against, Merab Dvalishvili, later explaining that it was due to concerns over the health of his young son, who was diagnosed with the brain condition hydrocephalus after being born in 2018.
