Photo: UFC Newark’s Colby Covington was advised to pull out of Lawler fight after sustaining nasty cut in training

According to a report by ESPN’s Ariel Helwani, Colby Covington was advised to pull out of his pivotal welterweight clash with Robbie Lawler at UFC on ESPN 5 due to injury.

Covington, who went on to beat Lawler via dominant unanimous decision in the UFC on ESPN 5 main event at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, required sixteen stitches after sustaining a headbutt in training.
