After both fighters made weight Friday morning, the New York State Athletic Commission informed Gonzalez that she will not be allowed to make her UFC debut in the NYC because she had breast implants.
Why the UFC and Gonzalez weren’t aware of New York’s breast implant policy prior to today’s fiasco is unknown.
“Due to the concern over rupture, boxers who have breast implants are not eligible to box in the state of New York. Boxers who have breast reductions are allowed to box,” reads New York’s rules on breast implants.
The UFC, however, never confirmed the cancellation of the strawweight scrap.
